Rebecca Crowell
Rebecca Crowell is an American abstract artist known for the rich, complex surfaces she creates with oil paint and cold wax medium. Her work is included in hundreds of private, public, and corporate collections. She is widely recognized for her development of original techniques using cold wax medium, detailed in the award-winning book she co-authored, Cold Wax Medium: Techniques, Concepts & Conversations (Squeegee Press, 2017).
“The abstract, visual vocabulary of my work is based on observations and experiences in the wild, rugged landscapes of northern New Mexico where I live, and from time spent in other remote places in the world. Abstracting from landscape has taught me what I want my paintings to be—strong yet nuanced, bold yet intricate, and possessing a quiet, contained energy.” ~Rebecca Crowell
