Gilberto Romero
The flowing, organic abstraction within the sculptural work of Gilberto Romero inspires deep joy and a sense of greater communion with the natural world and its mysteries. Romero, a fourth-generation Santa Fean, creates fabricated bronze, cast bronze, and stone sculptures that exude his love of nature and the land he calls home. Through his exquisite vision, we experience the bliss of freedom and pure wonderment.

About Gilberto Romero:
Romero is a hands-on artist, completing all of his work from his studio. Even his cast work, though cast in a nearby foundry, is welded and chased by the artist. His patinas are beautiful and varied, ranging from monochromatic to mottled with intricate undulating patterns. An avid outdoorsman, Gilberto finds much artistic inspiration from his time in nature. “I see shapes everywhere,” he shares, and his patient and intuitive nature help him listen as stones “speak” with the possibility of becoming part of a future piece. Indeed, cast birds play a part in many of his sculptures, conjuring for us the idea of flight, expansion, and the delightful ability to soar.
