Don Quade Exhibition May 2011
Winterowd Fine Art announces
Nature's Architecture, an exhibition of new paintings by Don Quade.
This year abstract painter Don Quade's preoccupation with nature expands to include a love for nature's design. Utility combined with beauty prevails. Quade strikes an extremely pleasing balance between softer organic elements and hard edge architectural ones. Deep unexpected pops of color, like orange-ochre lichen on a mountain rock or lime green moss on a lakeshore, saturate his rich unaffected palette.
Strong line and shape are critical elements in Quade's new compositions. Recognizable and beautiful elements of nature are suspended in scumbled, textured and painted surfaces. Lyrical graphite under-drawings are visible. There is a delicate balance between found objects adhered to his painted surface and the lush stroke of pigment.
