Karen Bexfield exhibition May 2013
Karen Bexfield has a unique, clear vision about her work. Her sculptures are delicate in appearance but strong in form, they capture life’s spontaneity. Her upcoming exhibition in early May will be an exciting mix of work the artist has created over the past few years. This exhibition introduces Karen Bexfield's unique sculptures to Santa Fe art collectors. Exhibition dates: May 10 through 23, 2013
“My introductory solo exhibition is a little like a tasting menu. I’m presenting small intimate groupings of a lot of different glasswork I have created using my kiln-formed technique. I’ll be showing my cubes, eclipse/moon pieces, vessel pieces, wall pieces, and sculptural works."
James Marshall sculptures- March 2013
James Marshall's sculpture is featured in the New Mexico Museum of Fine Art's Alcove 12.9 exhibition March 1 through April 5. When you are in Santa Fe next, stop by the museum to see three fabulous sculptures, then come by the gallery to view more.

Christmas on Canyon Road
A great time of year to visit
Santa Fe is Christmas. Canyon Road Christmas Eve walk is one of our most magical evening events of the year. Evening festivities begin at sundown. All the galleries and businesses along Canyon Road and the surrounding home communities have placed farolitos (pictured here) along walkways to make a candlelit evening stroll. Bring family and friends along. No doubt you will inspried to sing some carols that evening or join in a carolling circle at a roadside luminaria (petite bonfire). Several galleries are open that night. Come join in the magic, make your reservations to your favorite restaurant early for Xmas Eve, & plan a trip to Santa Fe.
Tom Kirby Exhibition November 2012
Tom Kirby describes the theme for this show and the images in his paintings “as a transcendent moment of illumination.” He explains his paintings as “a glimpse of the timeless essence behind the surface appearance of reality.”
For this artist how the image is arrived at is as important as the final vision itself. The method of creating these artworks is a process of variation of ingredients of the paint mixtures, glazes and varnishes. No two mixtures are identical from one painting to the next. It is the opposite of formulaic painting. Gold dust, ground pearl, powdered graphite and rare resins like amber and sandarac are examples of the elements added to these mixtures. Tom finds the intrinsic physical properties of these materials fascinating.
This process is similar to that of the medieval alchemists who varied the elements in their concoctions while searching for the elixir of immortality. These permutations in the painting process are their own goal or product. This is in accord with nature’s tendency toward variation and change. As the ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus said, “in ceaseless change, all things find rest.” These variations are the sine qua non of subtle, transcendent quality of these paintings.
Please join us for the artist opening reception on November 23, 2012.
