Winterowd Fine Art presents new paintings by Dick Evans in an exhibition entitled Indications. Dick Evans describes his show as “a dynamic grouping of paintings, with lots of gesture, brushstroke and color, sometimes loosely based on landscape and sometimes totally abstract.”
In a recent interview the artist spoke of his life and process: “I seldom have a particular reaction that I am hoping for in a viewer. Rather, I would like for the viewer to experience an increased awareness or way of seeing. A work of art should not give you the answer…it should give you a compelling reason to search.” Dick describes his method of working, “My painting is a reductive process. I’m trying to leave the parts that resonate, taking away the part that isn’t important.” A Dick Evans painting is not something you learn to like; it’s something you feel.
